China retained its momentum as the world’s No. 1 auto exporter during the first half of 2023, exporting 300,000 more cars than Japan in the period after overtaking its rival in the first quarter, in results largely driven by gains from rising demand for new-energy vehicles (NEVs) and increased Russian deliveries.
China’s auto exports between January and June surged 77.1% from a year ago to about 2.34 million cars, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs.
