China could resolve its trade dispute over electric vehicles (EVs) with the European Union by raising prices through “price undertaking” negotiations to avoid punitive tariffs levelled against it, former head of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy told Caixin.

The EU launched the recent anti-subsidy probe over concerns that China’s cheap electric cars would flood the bloc’s market, hitting its producers, after higher U.S. tariffs made exports to the world’s second-largest EV market more expensive, Lamy said in an exclusive interview with Caixin.
