Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas is ‘open’ to the idea of joining Nottingham Forest, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.

The Lowdown: Navas linked with Forest

In recent days, rumours have emerged regarding the Reds making a move for the Costa Rica veteran, following an injury to first-choice ‘keeper Dean Henderson.

Navas hasn’t made a single appearance in Ligue 1 for PSG this season, with Gianluigi Donnarumma preferred to him, so a move away this month could appeal to the 36-year-old.

With deadline day fast approaching, Forest may now need to act quickly to get their man, but the PSG goalie seems amenable to trying his luck in the Premier League.

The Latest: Navas ‘open’ to joining Forest

Taking to Twitter, Romano claimed that Neves is tempted by the idea of sealing a January move to the City Ground.

The Italian stated:

“Keylor Navas has accepted the idea of joining Nottingham Forest already two days ago, he’d be open to the move

“Paris Saint-Germain, expected to make decision soon — it’s up to them as PSG would pay main part of the salary.”

The Verdict: Proven winner

At 36, Navas’ best days are arguably behind him, but he is a proven winner who could come in as a shrewd replacement for Henderson and competition for the Englishman when he returns from injury.

The £198,000-per-week earner is a three-time Champions League winner from his Real Madrid days and has been lauded as “one of the best goalkeepers in the world” by his former PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Navas’ winning mentality could be priceless for Forest in their attempts to avoid relegation, with his former Real Madrid team-mate Casemiro’s current influence at Manchester United a good example of the impact that a born winner can have at a club.
