Aston Villa: Fans react to Ollie Watkins transfer link
Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a link that claims the Premier League club are keen to make a summer move for Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.
24-year-old goalscorer Watkins arrived at Griffin Park in 2017 from Exeter City under then manager Dean Smith and the £10.8m rated footballer has since gone on to become one of the Championship’s top strikers.
Netting an impressive 25 goals and gaining three assists in 46 appearances during the 2019/20 season, the Torquay born striker has enhanced his reputation and narrowly missed out on promotion with the Bees to the Premier League, losing to Fulham in the Championship play-off final earlier this week.
Villa, who struggled to find a regular goalscorer last term, managed to keep their top-flight status alive on the final day of the season, holding West Ham United to a 1-1 draw.
Boss Smith is now seemingly keen to make some changes to his squad this summer and John Percy has now reported that the Villa boss could reunited with Watkins, who would cost £18m.
Reacting to the transfer report regarding Watkins, many fans took to Twitter account @villareport and shared their opinion.
I think Watkins would be a better buy. We need goals. Benrahma was so poor again last night. Benrahma very inconsistent and light weight. Very over rated. But Watkins would be a decent centre forward for us. Benrahma will get found out as average in Premier League.

I’m ready. But will he be our main striker? Does this mean Samatta or Davis or their way out? Is this like Southhampton signing Che Adams?

We should just throw £40m at Brentford for Watkins and Benrahma. Enquire about Tammy (£40-50). That should leave enough for back ups in weak positions. We should also flog Wesley and Samatta. UTV

Abraham & Watkins ✅
Samatta & Davis ❌This makes sense, this would make me happy #utv

That’d be a great buy. He looks confident in front of goal. Can play the link up, is fast and doesn’t mind playing off the left or right. He could easily come in fill in as an inside forward and get around wesley and the box for goals. Is just buy the Brentford front 3 😂
