Aston Villa: Fans have mixed views on Said Benrahma transfer rumours - Aston Villa

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a transfer report which sees them joined by West Ham United in the race to sign Brentford attacker Said Benrahma.

With Villa’s top-flight status now confirmed, manager Dean Smith can look to the summer transfer window to bolster his squad options.

Having been the Premier League’s biggest spenders last summer, the Midlands side will undoubtedly be hoping to bring in the right players this time around and one of those being linked with a move to Villa Park is Brentford’s lively attacker Benrahma.

The 24-year-old Algerian has been one of the most prolific attackers in English football through the 2019/20 season, contributing with 17 goals and nine assists in his 43 appearances.

With such consistent form, it is now being reported that West Ham are keen to make a move as David Moyes looks to do similar to Smith and improve on what was a poor and inconsistent season at London Stadium, with the Hammers finishing only one position higher than Villa.

Reacting to West Ham’s interest in Benrahma, these Villa fans gave their views on Twitter, with one calling for the club to also pursue the Algerian’s Brentford team-mate Ollie Watkins, who has scored 25 goals so far this season.

Others however were not as keen on the player, with one fearing he would become another Jonathan Kodjia. The Ivorian, like Benrahma, had a strong goals record in the Championship with 47 to his name but he struggled to step up to the Premier League and failed to score at all (Transfermarkt).
