Aston Villa: Unai Emery eyeing Alberto Moleiro move

Aston Villa: Unai Emery eyeing Alberto Moleiro move - Aston Villa News

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is already eyeing a summer move for Las Palmas teenager Alberto Moleiro, according to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans.

The Lowdown: Moleiro profiled

Moleiro is 19 years of age and is primarily an attacking midfielder who can also play on either wing, as per Transfermarkt. The Spaniard signed a new contract with Las Palmas through to 2026 last summer and has already made 64 senior appearances for the club, contributing to 11 goals.

He has been hailed as a “magic” player who has a “very high ceiling” by Las Palmas coach Garcia Pimienta, and it looks as if a move to Villa Park in 2023 could be on the cards.

The Latest: Emery interest

Reliable reporter Evans shared a story for The Athletic on Wednesday, looking at Villa’s January window.

He said that the club are happy to play the waiting game to land their top targets, adding that Moleiro is on Emery’s wish-list ahead of the summer, with the manager planning a big rebuild.

The Verdict: One to watch…

Villa were relatively quiet last month, considering NSWE promised Emery a ‘huge’ January budget after he took over from Steven Gerrard.

Alex Moreno and Jhon Duran arrived in the Midlands at a combined cost of €30m, so you’d expect that Villa will be very busy over the summer ahead of Emery’s first full season in charge.

Moleiro could well be a future star and appears to be impressing for Las Palmas with seven assists to his name already this season, so he could be a name to follow in the second half of the season following Evans’ claim.
