Coventry City: Ben Sheaf arrives on loan from Arsenal - Arsenal News

Coventry City have confirmed the signing of Ben Sheaf from Arsenal on a one-year loan deal via their official website.

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins has followed up their League One title win and promotion to the Championship with a number of summer arrivals.

Seven players in total have arrived at the club, with former PEC Zwolle midfielder Gustavo Hamer and former Aston Villa man Callum O’Hare arguably being the most noteworthy summer signings.

Havibg been linked with a move for Sheaf, talks have been ongoing for some time about a one-year deal for the youngster, who spent last season on loan with Coventry’s former League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.

The 22-year-old has come through the youth ranks at the Emirates Stadium after joining the north London side from West Ham United.

Confirmation of his signing has now been made via the Sky Blues’ official website, with Robins saying: “We’re very pleased to announce Ben’s arrival at the Club.

“He’s a player with great pedigree and ability, who will really add to our squad for the Championship season ahead.

“He’s got a good physical presence and a footballing brain as well, and will be a real asset for us during the campaign.

“We thank Arsenal for agreeing to loan Ben to us, and look forward to working with him.”

The loan deal includes the option for the Sky Blues to sign Sheaf on a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Sheaf could to be an excellent addition to the Coventry side, with the young defensive midfielder scoring two goals and proving two assists in 32 League One games last term.

He therefore seemed primed to make the step up to the Championship, while he could add a sprinkling of class from what he has learned in his time with the Arsenal underage setup.
