Arsenal: David Raya wants Gunners move but Brentford unwilling to sell

Arsenal: David Raya wants Gunners move but Brentford unwilling to sell - Arsenal

Arsenal are looking to find a reserve goalkeeper as it looks like Emiliano Martinez could be on his way out of the club, and there has been an update on one of his possible replacements in David Raya.

According to The Telegraph’s Sam Dean, Arsenal are finding it hard to sort out a possible transfer with Brentford for Raya, as that the Championship side are currently not even willing to negotiate and they are adamant that he is simply not for sale.

This might not strictly mean that the Gunners won’t get him, though, as the goalkeeper is keen on the move after hearing of their interest and Dean believes that he has told Brentford how he feels.

With Martinez not wanting to be second choice at the club, the Gunners will need to find a replacement and Raya could be an ideal candidate to come in as second-choice goalkeeper. At Brentford he has made 49 appearances and only conceded 42 goals whilst keeping 16 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt.

These are impressive figures they highlight that he could be very good cover for Bernd Leno and can be trusted to come into the team if needed.

The Bees’ unwillingness to part with the ‘keeper is an obvious stumbling block which could make it difficult for a deal to be agreed. However, that Raya has expressed his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium might help the Gunners in their pursuit of a player who could add dependable squad depth.
