Newcastle United: Fans hammer Rolando Aarons return after loan stint at Wycombe
Responding to a piece from the Chronicle, Newcastle United supporters have hammered the return of Magpies outcast Rolando Aarons on social media after his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers ended at the weekend – with some fans wondering why the club haven’t parted ways with the academy graduate.
Aarons, who has only mustered 14 appearances for the Magpies over the last seven seasons, with the majority of those cameos coming from the bench (WhoScored.com), appears to have become somewhat of a forgotten figure at St. James’ Park – spending the last three seasons out on loan at Hellas Verona, Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe.
The Jamaican winger also partially failed to impress whilst out on his travels – scoring three goals and registering one assist over the three respective loan spells, as per Transfermarkt. These alarming statistics have prompted some Newcastle supporters to enquire why he is still on the payroll, with a few of them pulling no punches on social media when it comes to the 24-year-old’s form.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Only Newcastle would recall a player from a side who hasn’t been getting a game in league 1 and spin it as a positive. No doubt he’ll be straight in the squad. Pathetic. #nufc

So why bring him back just to sit on the sidelines…. Should have left him there

All the talent in the world but never seemed to try. Shame, could have been excellent.

Brought back to be sold? Can’t play him as he’s not in PL squad and cup-tied so what else can we do with him?
