Luton Town: Signing Jonny Williams will be a sign of intent from Hatters - Luton Town News

With Luton Town now amongst some of the big boys in English football with promotion to the Championship, the club now have to recruit those who can compete in the division.

The Hatters will be aiming to retain second division status this time next season, and although the club’s exceptional rise through the Football League in the past few years has been nothing short of incredible, Luton could still find themselves in a position where they will struggle in the Championship.

As well as retaining their current stars, Luton have to add quality into their side to make them competitive come August, and one name has stood out so far heading into the transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Luton are one of the sides interested in Charlton Athletic midfielder Jonny Williams, who guided the Addicks to promotion this past weekend in the League One play-off final against Sunderland.

The Welsh international, who is valued at £900,000 on Transfermarkt, has proven to be a good player in the Championship over the years, playing for a multitude of teams in the division, and at 25, Luton can get the most out of Williams, whose contract at Charlton expires this summer.

As well as a good signing on paper, it would be a major sign of intent from Luton if they are to sign a player like Williams. The midfielder has Premier League experience with Crystal Palace and is a name that the majority of teams in the Championship wouldn’t mind having on their books.

Luton will be aiming for survival next season, and in Williams, they will have a player who can assist them in that goal as well as put out a sign of intent from the club.
