Sunderland: Fans rave over Jordan Willis after solid outing against Oxford United - Twitter Talk

Sunderland fans were gushing over Jordan Willis’ most-recent performance after the centre-back put in a commanding display against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

Having visited the Kassam Stadium in search of all three points, Phil Parkinson’s side managed to take the win with the help of an own-goal by John Mousinho inside the first five minutes, via the Mackem’s defender’s own attempt putting them ahead (BBC).

The Wearsider’s current form has sent them within three points of League One leaders with Rotherham United and meant they had kept their seventh clean sheet in eight matches (per Sky Sports) and it would seem many of the club’s faithful have put that down to Willis’ contributions.

The 25-year-old, who joined Sunderland in the summer, has been a key figure for the Black Cats this season. The former Coventry City enforcer has already gone on to make 30 appearances in the league, achieving an average of winning 3.7 aerial duels, 0.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 4.8 clearances (per WhoScored).

Indeed, he continued that fine form once again against Oxford on Saturday, as he completed a further three clearances.

Here is what just some of the Sunderland fans had to say about Willis’ latest showing…
