Norwich: Leeds could hijack Canaries' move for Angus Gunn - Norwich City News

Norwich City have suffered a potential transfer blow, with Leeds United linked with hijacking the Canaries’ move for goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

The Lowdown: Planning for life in the Premier League

Daniel Farke’s side are preparing for their return to the Premier League, following last season’s excellent title success in the Championship.

The key now is avoiding relegation back to the second tier, as was the case last time around, with new signings required in the coming months.

One player who has been strongly linked with a move to Carrow Road is Gunn, with the 25-year-old potentially leaving Southampton this summer.

The Latest: Leeds could hijack Gunn move

According to Football Insider, Leeds are looking to swoop in instead, seeing the Saints man as an ideal backup option to Illan Meslier.

Norwich may still be the front-runners to sign Gunn, but a late twist does look like it could be possible.

The Verdict: Father’s influence key?

Gunn could be a shrewd addition for Norwich, providing competition for Tim Krul and adding more squad depth for the Canaries.

The fact that his father, Bryan, was a legendary figure at the club could also work in their favour, allowing him to follow in his Dad’s footsteps.

Gunn will likely have to accept that he is second-choice, however, given Krul’s influence between the sticks, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be on the bench of Leeds, Norich, or someone else next season.

It would be a blow for Norwich if they are gaszumped at the final hurdle of getting this deal completed and would set a bad precident for the summer ahead.

In other news, Norwich are reportedly eyeing up a move for a hugely exciting player. Find out who it is here.
