Leicester City talks to sign Lyon winger Tete are at the final stages, according to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Foxes battle survival…

The Foxes are fighting to stay in the Premier League and manager Brendan Rodgers could be buoyed by the possibility of some fresh faces in January.

Tete has been a player of real interest to Leicester amid reports that rival sides could even attempt to hijack their move for the Brazilian.

However, in some good news for both Rodgers and supporters, it appears that possibility is now seriously fading.

The Latest: Romano shares exciting Tete news…

It’s reported by Romano that Leicester talks are advanced for Tete with discussions entering the last phase, putting the King Power Stadium side in pole position for his signature.

He explained (via Twitter):

“EXCL: Leicester City are in advanced talks to sign Brazilian winger Tetê from Olympique Lyon. Discussions are now at final stages.

Understand Leeds United are focused on Weston McKennie deal despite links with Tetê.”

The Verdict: Great news…

The South American ace has shone in parts for Lyon amid his current loan spell from Shakhtar Donetsk this season.

Tete ranks in their top two for goals and assists in Ligue 1 this season with six and two respectively, currently sitting among their best-performing crop domestically (WhoScored).

The 22-year-old is also fourth in their squad for attempts at goal and completed take-ons per 90, highlighting just how threatening he can be when at his very best.

While it could be a complicated deal to complete considering he is technically a Shakhtar player, it appears a move which may pay off for Rodgers and co as they attempt to add more attacking talent to their roster.
