Southampton: Ralph Hasenhuttl confirms Nathan Tella injury news

Southampton: Ralph Hasenhuttl confirms Nathan Tella injury news - Premier League

Speaking to the press (via Hampshire Live), Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed some injury news involving midfielder Nathan Tella.

The Lowdown: Saints return to action…

The Saints return to action for the first time in two weeks today as they take on Coventry City in the FA Cup 4th round, coming off the back of an impressive 1-1 draw at home to league leaders Man City in the Premier League.

Hasenhuttl will be looking to replicate aspects of that game moving forward this season as he chases a strong and encouraging finish to 2021/2022.

An FA cup run would arguably give supporters a real sense of hope that this campaign could lead to great improvement in the future as Hasenhuttl now confirms some injury news ahead of the impending Saturday bout.

The Latest: Hasenhuttl confirms Tella absence…

Speaking to the media, he says that exciting starlet Tella will unfortunately miss the match against Coventry as he is still sidelined through injury.

“We have two injured players, Alex McCarthy who has a long time out and Nathan Tella is still out,” Hasenhuttl said (via Hampshire Live).

“Will Smallbone is back in sessions and Tino Livramento also, that’s it so far.”

The Verdict: Not ideal…

Recently handed a new three-and-a-half-year contract at St Mary’s, thanks in part to his brilliant form this season and massive potential, Southampton will want Tella back in action as soon as possible.

Attracting the joint-most fouls of any Saints player this season, highlighting just how difficult he is to play against, Hasenhuttl hasn’t held back in his praise for the 22-year-old.

Indeed, the Austrian has branded Tella a ‘big threat’ when at his best and it’s safe to say his eventual return will boost Southampton to no end.

Alas, they will have to fare without him again today.
