Coventry: Transfer target Fabio Kaufmann agrees move to Eintracht Braunschweig - Bundesliga News

Coventry City have missed out on the chance to sign Fabio Kaufmann after the winger completed a move to Eintracht Braunschweig.

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins has responded to his side’s promotion to the Championship with a number of significant signings.

After making his first summer purchase with the arrival of Gustavo Hamer from PEC Zwolle, Robins followed that up with French defender Julien Dacosta, who arrived on a free transfer.

Marcel Hilssner became the third signing before last season’s loan duo Callum O’Hare and Ryan Giles both signed deals to return, with the former agreeing a permanent move.

Interest in Kaufmann began at the end of the 2019/20 season after he impressed for German third tier side Wurzburg Kickers, his 14 goals in 37 league games helping them to gain promotion.

Speaking to his new club’s official website as quoted by Coventry Live, Kaufmann said: “I am very happy to play for a club with such a long tradition in the future.

“Eintracht is rooted in the region, but has drawn attention to itself across Germany in recent years.

“I am ready to take the next step and am really looking forward to the new tasks.

“During the games against the Lions in the Eintracht-Stadion I got a great impression of how much support there is for Eintracht.”

Robins will not worry too much about missing out on Kaufmann, despite the winger impressing in a promotion-winning campaign recently. The Coventry boss has been excellent thus far in the transfer window and he will have done his homework on other targets.

Even with this one passing the Midlands outfit by, Sky Blues fans should have good reason to be very excited for next season given the trajectory of the club in recent months.
