Ipswich defender James Wilson has signed an 18-month contract extension with the club, committing himself to the Tractor Boys until summer 2021, with the option of a further 12-month addition. [via itfc.co.uk]

The 30-year-old came to Portman Road on a free transfer in early August, having departed Lincoln by mutual consent in the summer, and had initially signed a short-term deal of just five months. [via itfc.co.uk]

However, the once-capped Wales international has swiftly become a regular presence in Paul Lambert’s team, making eight starts in Ipswich’s first 11 League One games as well as featuring in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy. [via TransferMarkt]

Wilson has won the third most aerial duels per game of any Ipswich player this season (5.6), along with the second highest interceptions per game average in the squad (2.1) and the highest clearances per game average (7.5). [via WhoScored]
