Ipswich Town: Fans delighted to see Tyrone Mings make his England debut
England’s 6-0 Euro 2020 qualifying win over Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday night was overshadowed by racist chanting from some spectators, as reported by Sky Sports, but it’s a match that Tyrone Mings may remember for all the right reasons.
The Aston Villa centre-back was given his senior debut for his country by Gareth Southgate and his former club Ipswich paid their congratulations on Twitter [via @IpswichTown].

The 26-year-old came to Portman Road from Chippenham Town for a fee of just £10,000 in 2013, as reported by The Guardian, and went on to make 63 appearances for the Tractor Boys before joining Bournemouth two years later for £8m (as per BBC) as the Cherries prepared for their inaugural Premier League campaign.
Mings enjoyed a solid England debut in Sofia, with 98 touches of the ball and 85 completed passes out of 89 (the third-most of anyone in the game — via WhoScored), while his performance was commended by The Telegraph‘s Matt Law, who said that “the central defender can be extremely proud of how he conducted himself in an England shirt for the first time”.
