Crystal Palace: Fans discuss Ian Holloway following debate on Twitter - Crystal Palace

A lot of Crystal Palace fans are discussing former manager Ian Holloway following a fan asking whether he was a ‘hero’ or ‘zero’ during his time at the club on Twitter.

Holloway is known for his great personality and there was a lot of excitement when he took over from Dougie Freedman in November 2012, per Transfermarkt. At the time the Eagles were battling near the top of the Championship and hoping they could make the playoffs, via Crystal Palace.

Was Holloway a hero or zero during his time at the club?

Holloway would make it to the playoffs with the South London side, and defeat rivals Brighton and then Watford at Wembley meaning Palace gained the promotion to the Premier League that their fans dreamed about, via BBC Sport.

Although the fairy tale would not end well, as Holloway left the job in October 2013 after a 4-1 defeat which saw the club bottom of the Premier League and with only one win, via Transfermarkt, he is still greatly appreciated for getting the team to where they are today, whilst also respected for stepping down when realising he could not keep the club in the Premier League.

His record of 14 wins, 14 draws and 18 losses isn’t the best, and means he had a win percentage of 30%, via QPR, but he has been deemed a hero by many for his career at the club and gaining that crucial promotion.

Here is what fans had to say following the tweet, with one suggesting he is “more highly regarded” than his predecessor Dougie Freedman…
