Difference between Betting on Soccer and other Sports
Soccer betting is a little different than betting on other popular sports. Soccer games have several betting options for a side and total, such as three-way money lines or taking the double chance. While soccer leagues are popular among the wagering fans, you can also check other games and their leagues including online NFL betting, NBA betting and MLS betting. Betting the Three-Way Moneyline
The three-way Moneyline offers the following three wagering choices, as its name suggests:
- A win for Team A
- A win for Team B
- Teams A and B tie
Results for three-way Moneylines are evaluated purely based on 90 minutes of play, or “Regular Time.” This does not include overtime or penalty shootouts but rather any additional injury or stoppage time imposed at the referee’s discretion.
Betting the Two-Way Moneyline
The two-way Moneyline, which is available in two straightforward ways: Double Chance and Draw No Bet, is another way to bet on soccer. Only the 90 minutes of regulation are used to grade either.
Double Chance refers to a wager on either team winning, drawing, or winning. There are three possible outcomes:
- Wins or ties go to Team A
- Wins or ties go to Team B
- Either Team B or Team A wins
The Draw No Bet wager removes the possibility of a draw, leaving only two outcomes possible:
- A win for Team A
- A win for Team B
These odds are typically overstated in favour of the favourite because the draw is removed from the calculation.
Betting Goal Lines (aka Spreads)
The Goal Line is a sort of wager that eliminates at least one outcome, much like betting the Two-Way Moneyline. Goal lines resemble hockey puck lines, football or basketball point spreads, and goal lines.
In soccer, a goal line is usually -0.5 goals, although, in contests where the home team is by a wide margin, the goal line may be higher, such as -1.5 or -2.5.
Betting Totals
In comparison to other sports, soccer totals function differently and can be displayed in multiple 25 goals. Because there isn’t as much scoring as in other sports, bookies frequently set a total of 2.25, 2.5, or 2.75. If you bet on Over 2.25 goals, for instance, half of your wager is placed on “Over 2,” and the other half is placed on “Over 2.5.”
If the score is 1-1, you lose your Over 2.5 bet and receive a refund for your Over two wager because it was pushed. You will win both of your chances if three or more goals are scored in the game.
The third sort of point spread that splits your stake into two separate wagers, such as -1.5 and -2, is the Asian handicap. In such a situation, you break even if your team wins by a margin of two. You both win if they defeat you by three.
Another illustration is placing a wager on Under 2.75 goals. You lay half of your wager on Under 2.5 goals and the other half on Under three goals. You would lose half of your wager (Under 2.5) and receive the other half back if the outcome was three (Under 3).
