Burnley: Braga reject £17.5m bid from Clarets for Vitinha - Burnley News

A recent report from Italy has claimed that S.C. Braga has turned down a £17.5m bid from Championship side Burnley for their forward Vitinha.

The Lowdown: Atletico interest

Vincent Kompany’s side has not been the only side interested in the player, as Relevo journalist Toni Juanmarti reported that Vitinha was one their list of candidates to replace Joao Felix.

The piece also stated that the Spanish side was looking at either a loan move or a permanent move at a low fee.

In 17 games in the Liga Portugal, the 22-year-old has produced 10 goal contributions so far this season with Braga and scored four goals in the Europa League.

The Latest: Braga turn down Burnley bid

Sport Italia are claiming that the Clarets have tabled a bid of €20m for the Portuguese ace, but Braga has already rejected it, Atletico has also made a proposal for Vitinha but they’ve been turned down.

It’s expected that there may be some more late offers for the player’s services in the coming days, before the January transfer window closes.

The Verdict: Looks very unlikely

We would be surprised if Burnley were to move again for Vitinha, as they appear to have a new striker on their way to the club.

The Clarets are ‘close’ to signing Michael Obafemi of Swansea City on loan and the deal will become a permanent one in the summer according to BBC Sport.

Last February, Swans boss Russell Martin raved about Obafemi’s goal against Blackburn Rovers, describing his positioning as ‘great’ and it’s something he’s been working hard at on the training pitch, when speaking to the club’s website.

Adding the Irish forward to their ranks would give Kompany five strikers in his current squad, which we feel is plenty for the remainder of their Championship campaign.

Burnley’s season so far has been fantastic, their recruitment has relied on bringing in a lot of young stars either on loan or on a permanent deal.

Vitinha could well have flourished under the Belgian manager, but the way their season is shaping up, we doubt Burnley will be fretting too much about missing out on the player.
