Newcastle United: Rolando Aarons remains Huddersfield's number one target - Huddersfield Town Transfer Rumours

Newcastle United outcast Rolando Aarons remains the top target for Huddersfield Town ahead of the January transfer window, after the winger missed out on a deadline day move.

Aarons is surplus to requirements at St James’ Park and Steve Bruce has made no secret of the fact that he wants him to get regular game time elsewhere. It is hoped that he will be able to get a move at some stage to get his career back on track, as per Chronicle Live.

Huddersfield set to be patient ahead of January swoop

The 24-year-old came very close to securing his move away to Huddersfield on domestic transfer deadline day. However, the winger was denied the move late on after paperwork was submitted too late, as per Yorkshire Live. That means he will now stay with the Magpies until at least the January window.

Which season did Longstaff make his debut for the Newcastle U18's?

It has now emerged that Huddersfield are still making Aarons their ‘top target’ ahead of the January window and will not settle for a player who doesn’t tick all their boxes, per a Yorkshire Live interview with Terriers chairman Phil Hodgkinson.

It has been reported that Aarons is likely to miss out on the Magpies’ 25-man squad for the Premier League, as per Chronicle Live. That would come as little surprise and the 24-year-old does need to hope that a move to Huddersfield can come off for him when the winter window opens.

Aarons could get chance to prove doubters wrong

Aarons burst onto the scene at Newcastle with plenty of promise during the 2015/16 season, making ten Premier League appearances and averaging an impressive 84% passing accuracy (Sofascore). However, since then he has been a squad player at best, not maintaining the faith of any of the Magpies’ recent bosses.

The 24-year-old was labelled as a ‘great talent’ by Alan Pardew when he first emerged in the first-team. He has never been able to live up to that promise and has received a lot of doubt over his ability. A January move should at least enable him to prove those doubters wrong and show what he can do.
