Luton Town: James Justin is out the exit door, Jack Stacey can’t be allowed to follow as well - Luton Town News

It was always going to be hard to keep together a promotion-winning team together, but what more can you do when some of England’s biggest come calling.

With the news from the Telegraph that James Justin is on the verge of a move to Leicester City, the 21-year-old left-back becomes the first casualty this summer of what could see a multitude of stars depart Kenilworth Road in the next few weeks, and another defensive star who could be on the way out is right-back Jack Stacey.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Hatters defender is on the radar for both Celtic and Stoke City, with former Luton boss Nathan Jones clearly eager to reunite with a defender he brought to the now Championship side during his time with his previous club, and with Justin essentially out the door, Stacey can’t be allowed to go too.

The two fullbacks were two of Luton’s most important players last season in their road to back-to-back promotions, and Stacey, in particular, was a figure in the squad who impressed immensely, scoring four and assisting eight in the league and being named via Luton Today as the Hatters Player of the Season, Junior Hatters’ Player of the Year and Internet Player of the Season.

Stacey’s importance in the first-team last season can’t be underlined enough given how well the defender cleaned up at the club’s end of the season award show as well as his impressive goal contribution tally, and at just 23-years-old, his career is barely getting started as Luton head into the Championship, a challenge the right-back will be more than up for given his affinity with the club.

Luton fans, will Stacey remain at the club this summer? Let us know!
