QPR: Hoops considering Anthony Barry move

QPR: Hoops considering Anthony Barry move - Championship News

Queens Park Rangers are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea coach Anthony Barry as a replacement for Michael Beale.

The Lowdown: Barry profiled

Barry has been at Stamford Bridge since 2020 and has worked under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and now Graham Potter. The UEFA A Licence coach also works with the Belgium national team alongside Roberto Martinez.

The 36-year-old actually shares the same agency as three Hoops players and has previous experience as an assistant manager with Wigan Athletic and the Republic of Ireland.

The Latest: QPR linked with Barry

The Mirror shared in their print edition on Wednesday (30/11/22, p.51, via Football League World) that Neil Critchley is QPR’s top target to come in for Beale.

However, they added that the west London club are also considering Barry and former Cardiff City manager Steve Morison.

Barry at QPR?

The Verdict: One to watch?

It seems as if Critchley is at the top of Les Ferdinand’s wish list at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, but it is good to see that he isn’t the only name that the club are considering.

Barry could be a name to monitor over the coming days, but he has no previous experience as a first-team manager, so a move for him could be a gamble.

On the flip side, he has the highest UEFA coaching qualification and has worked under a number of managers at Stamford Bridge, so a potential swoop for him may prove to be an inspired piece of recruitment.
