QPR: Hoops interested in deal to sign Regan Poole - Championship News

Queens Park Rangers are interested in a deal to sign Lincoln City defender Regan Poole in January, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Poole profiled

The Welshman, who can play in multiple positions in defence and in midfield, arrived at Sincil Bank back in 2021 and has been a regular feature ever since, having played a significant role in helping the Imps reach the playoff final last season.

Despite only being there for almost two years, the right-back’s impressive performances under Mark Kennedy have now seen him attracting plenty of attention from the Championship, with six clubs set to fight it out for his signature.

The Latest: Hoops eyeing Poole

According to Football League World, QPR, alongside Cardiff, Millwall, Luton, Blackpool and Huddersfield, are all ‘taking a keen interest’ in Poole ahead of the winter market.

The 24-year-old signed a multi-year contract when he put pen to paper meaning that Lincoln are ‘in a position to demand a fee’ from any potential suitors, though they are ‘facing a battle’ to keep hold of him.

The Verdict: No-brainer of a decision

Poole has previously been likened to Rio Ferdinand by one of his former coaches Matty Davies, and looking at his numbers so far this season, this seems to be a no-brainer of a deal to complete.

The full-back currently averages 4.3 long balls, 3.6 clearances and 3.1 successful aerial duels per league 90 minutes, highlighting the rock he can be at the heart of a backline (WhoScored).

Ethan Laird is also only on a season-long loan, so if he doesn’t make his stay permanent at the end of the campaign, Poole could be an ideal successor at Loftus Road.
