Saido Berahino has reportedly taken a significant pay cut in order to sign for Sheffield Wednesday, according to reliable journalist Dom Howson.

The Owls had a hugely productive summer transfer window, with Darren Moore bringing in no fewer than 14 new signings to add to his squad.
The most recent of those was Berahino, who joined from Belgian side Zulte Waregem on transfer deadline day last week, having scored 10 goals in 11 games for England’s under-21s in the past before switching his senior allegiance to Burundi.

According to Yorkshire Live‘s Howson on Twitter, Berahino ‘has taken a huge pay cut’ in order to join Wednesday, an eye-catching six-word revelation which indicates just how keen the 28-year-old was to get on board at Hillsborough.
Howson added that the striker will join initially until the end of the season, but could stay on beyond that point, with an option to extend his deal for 12 months.
The Verdict: Hugely exciting signing
While Berahino hasn’t reached the potential which was evident during those aforementioned England under-21 days and his formative years at West Brom, he still represents an exciting signing for the Owls.
The 28-year-old has worked under Moore in the past, so the hope is that he enjoys his football at Hillsborough and finds a positive next chapter in his career following some difficult years.
