Charlton: Fans delighted as Karlan Grant’s move to WBA hands financial boost to Addicks
Many Charlton Athletic fans have reacted to the transfer of former Addicks player Karlan Grant from Huddersfield to West Browmich Albion, which will hand them a significant financial boost.
West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has seen the likes of Hal-Robson Kanu, Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore all struggle to make an impact in the Premier League, with the latter two failing to gain any minutes on the pitch as of yet this season (via Transfermarkt).
With the domestic deadline closing today, the Baggies moved quickly to seal a deal for Grant, which saw the striker sign a six-year deal at The Hawthorns.

The transfer cost West Brom a fee of £15m, making him the Premier League club’s ninth signing this summer. Prior to his spell with the Terriers, Grant spent time with Charlton, appearing 98 times for the Addicks in which he found the back of the net 21 times in total.
Following the striker’s move to West Brom, details emerged regarding a 20% profit payment that would go to Charlton, as per a tweet from Sky Sports’ Ben Ransom.
Charlton will get 20% PROFIT on any fee received above the £2m Huddersfield paid for Karlan Grant in January 2019.
Lee Bowyer confirmed to me last month @SkySportsNews that the clause was still active and hadn’t been sold #cafc https://t.co/F9g4aGDcio

It’s been a pretty good window for making money that’s for sure.. know we can’t spend it as such but it’s always good to keep money coming in especially when it’s scenarios like this.. #cafc https://t.co/AJgVnewpDc

Come on rodders “we can double our money on this”. Great news though. That little fee has literally paid off all 6 perm signings on two year deals if they were collecting the average 2k per week. In these wierd times, regardless of it being paid up pronto, this is superb!
