Sheffield Wednesday: Owls ‘talking’ about signing Hassan Ayari

Sheffield Wednesday: Owls 'talking' about signing Hassan Ayari - League One News

Sheffield Wednesday are ‘talking’ about the possibility of signing Hassan Ayari in January, according to journalist Joe Crann‘s update in the last 48 hours.

The Lowdown: Ayari’s trial period

The Sheffield United starlet is still under contract with his side but was spotted playing for the Owls’ U21s back in October after Paul Heckingbottom revealed that the 20-year-old had expressed his desire to leave.

The Tunisian has been on trial with Darren Moore’s outfit ever since, and having made a positive impression, could be set to make the permanent move to League One.

The Latest: Moore confirms talks

Taking to Twitter, Crann relayed quotes made by Moore regarding Wednesday’s stance on Ayari and revealed that the club are weighing up whether to make an official approach.

‘We like what we see of him, but he’s not our player. So we’re having discussions about him and where he’s at.’

“SWFC are still talking about whether to try and sign Sheffield United youngster, Hassan Ayari.”

The Verdict: One for the future

Wednesday would likely slot Ayari straight into their U21s should he put pen to paper, but he is definitely an exciting signing and one for the future.

The Blades ace has nine youth international caps to his name and has already found himself on the scoresheet at Hillsborough, despite only being at the club for two months.

Moore recognising the instant impact he’s made in the youth ranks suggests that if he was to sign, it wouldn’t be long before he forced his way into the first team fold, so developments could well be expected over the next couple of weeks.
