Leyton Orient: With Macauley Bonne gone, Josh Koroma can step up to become the star if he remains - League Two News

Leyton Orient are yet to play a game in their returning season back in League Two, but already they’re facing it without one of the key players who got the side back into the Football League.

Macauley Bonne’s transfer to Charlton has left a gaping hole in Orient’s side as the east London side now face a challenge of replacing a striker who bagged 45 goals in 91 appearances for the O’s in their National League years, and there could be another star heading for the exit door this summer.

According to the Sun, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and Sunderland are all keen on signing Leyton Orient youngster Josh Koroma, who has already been the subject of a rejected £300,000 bid from the Terriers per the report, and after losing Bonne, the League Two side can’t lose their 20-year-old attacker too.

Indeed, the young striker has shown over the past season in the National League that he is a player who has the potential to go far in the game as Koroma scored 11 goals and assisted another seven in 39 appearances for Orient, and with Bonne gone, the 20-year-old can step into the shoes of the prolific striker for the League Two campaign.

Over the course of last season Koroma alternated from playing on the wings to playing as a striker, the latter of which was where the youngster enjoyed his best football as all but one of his goals came from that position, and with Bonne now with Charlton, it could be motivation for the Orient player to remain for another season.

Koroma flourished at the striker position last season, and now the 20-year-old could lead Orient into a new era in their history if he decides to bite the bullet and remain for another season.

Leyton Orient fans, can Koroma step into Bonne’s shoes? Let us know!
