Leeds target Daichi Kamada impresses in Champions League - Leeds United News

Leeds United target Daichi Kamada put in an impressive display for Eintracht Frankfurt against Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The Lowdown: Leeds links

The Whites were busy over the summer, signing six players over the age of 20, while also landing exciting teenagers Sonny Perkins, Darko Gyabi and Wilfried Gnonto.

However, Victor Orta already appears to be looking at future moves in 2023, with Kamada, valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, a player who has been linked with the Whites.

Reports have claimed that Leeds are tempted to make a pre-contract move in the New Year, with the attacking midfielder’s current deal with Frankfurt set to expire in the summer.

The Latest: Shining against Spurs

Kamada started for Frankfurt in north London on Wednesday night, opening the scoring early on against Spurs, with Antonio Conte’s side eventually running out 3-2 winners.

As per SofaScore, Kamada, who played in the two behind a striker, was the third best-rated performer on the pitch behind only Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

He recorded a 7.7/10 match rating, ending with an impressive 90 per cent pass accuracy. The Japan international won 100 per cent of his duels and completed four of his five attempted long balls, displaying a mixture of combative skills and technical quality.

The Verdict: Pre-contract offer?

Kamada is primarily an attacking midfielder who can also play in a second striker role, and his display against a top Premier League side is a promising sign.

The 26-year-old could slot right in at Elland Road to add strength in depth, with Brenden Aaronson the only attacking midfielder on the books at this moment in time.

It looks as if the Whites are keen on his services, so Orta could now be tempted to look at a possible pre-contract agreement for Kamada in the New Year after his exciting display, provided his contract situation remains the same.
