Salford City Record Transfers
Salford City are among the newcomers to League Two and have only recently really started their ascend up the ladder, staking their claim in the footballing world. Of course, for that reason, it doesn’t really come as a big surprise to see that their transfer history is not exactly the richest or the most impressive you’ll ever see.
In fact, there is only one special signing that absolutely has to be mentioned here – the arrival of Jordan Hulme from Ramsbottom United for £7,000 back in 2014/15. The reason why that’s the only one is because the majority of their transfer have indeed been free agents arriving at the club. And while this is not necessarily a bad thing, especially considering the level they are playing at, it does, however, tell us a lot about their transfer policy and the size of their budget too.
With that being said, we can also give a shout to James Wilson and Darron Gibson who were among the most valuable arrivals to have ever signed for the club despite being free agents. And while we don’t necessarily have the exact confirmed sums Salford City had to pay to get them, the former was worth £1.3m and the latter £675,000, which are more than just decent fees.
We could say a similar thing for their most lucrative departures as well. While there are no big fees officially on the books, both Adam Rooney and Stephen O’Halloran were quite valuable assets that ended up leaving the club over the years, and interestingly enough, both fairly recently too.
Famous Salford City Transfers
Salford City are one of those teams whose most famous appointments have actually been in the form of their managerial staff or even the ownership as the Manchester United legends like Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and then later on, David Beckham, got a share of the club alongside Nicky Butt and Peter Lim.
But as far as the players themselves are concerned, the arrivals of both Wilson and Gibson in 2019/20 made quite a splash, to say the least, and they are the most valuable members the Ammies have in their ranks to this day.
Apart from them, Salford also acquired the services of Tom Elliott from Millwall and Craig Conway, a free agent, in that same campaign, which was an excellent piece of business.
But we still have to wait and see what will happen next at the club but once the dust settles and life resumes to normal, they should only go forward, one step at a time…
