Leeds: Whites could move for Kjetil Knutsen - Leeds United News

Leeds United could look at bringing in Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen to replace Jesse Marsch, according to The Daily Express.

The Lowdown: Knutsen profiled

The 54-year-old, who likes to play an attacking 4-3-3 formation, has been in charge of Bodo/Glimt since 2018. The Norwegian has averaged 1.95 points per game in 202 matches, winning the Eliteserien in 2019/20 and 2020/21 while also picking up a manager of the year award on three occasions.

He has led Bodo/Glimt in both the Europa League and Europa Conference League and could now be an option at Elland Road.

The Latest: Knutsen a candidate for Leeds

The Daily Express shared a story on Monday, looking at five possible candidates to replace Marsch in Yorkshire.

One of those is Knutsen, who was previously linked with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton and is known for his ‘aggressive style of play’.

The Verdict: One to watch?

In 2020, freelance journalist Will Lancaster described Knutsen as transforming a ‘Norwegian resemblance of Burnley to a Pep-inspired Manchester City in just two seasons’ at Bodo/Glimt, so he could be the man to turn things around in Yorkshire.

His name may well be unknown to many Leeds supporters, but it looks as if he has been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs in recent years, so the Whites could be the one to give him a chance in England.

He has an eye-catching record with Bodo/Glimt, including a memorable 6-1 thrashing of Jose Mourinho’s Roma, so this could be one to keep an eye on, although a lack of experience in a top European league could come as a worry to some Whites fans.
