Crystal Palace: Eagles eyeing up Bamba Dieng signing

Crystal Palace: Eagles eyeing up Bamba Dieng signing - Crystal Palace News

Crystal Palace are one of five Premier League clubs interested in signing young Marseille forward Bamba Dieng, according to a new transfer update.

The Lowdown: Dieng plays at World Cup

The 22-year-old was part of Senegal’s squad at the 2022 World Cup, and while he didn’t start a game, he still managed to feature sporadically for his country.

Dieng made four appearances from the substitutes’ bench in Qatar, totalling 98 minutes of action, and he scored in the 3-1 victory over the hosts.

The Senegalese appears to be a wanted man in the transfer market, following a fresh claim that heavily involves Palace.

The Latest: Palace eyeing up move

According to 90min, the Eagles are in a five-way battle to sign Dieng, with Leeds United, West Ham, Leicester and Everton all credited with interest in him.

The youngster’s current Marseille deal expires at the end of next season, so the Ligue 1 side may feel that now is the time to receive a healthy fee for his services.

The Verdict: More attacking quality

While Palace are blessed with talent in attacking areas currently, whether it be Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze or Michael Olise, more depth is still required there.

For that reason, Dieng could prove to be an inspired signing by Patrick Vieira, with African legend Sadio Mane saying he has ‘lots of qualities’ as a footballer.

Fresh attacking blood is certainly required at Palace in January, as they look to avoid a sudden relegation battle, and the attacker could be the man to provide Vieira with that extra option in the final third.
