Palace broke their club record fee paid to Newcastle for Andros Townsend by signing Christian Benteke from Liverpool for £28m in the summer transfer window of 2016.

Highly-touted Mamadou Sakho quickly followed suit, reuniting with his former Anfield teammate for £25.38m, ahead of Luka Milivojevic and Yohan Cabaye who take up the rest of the top five.

The boss has made it clear he wants to revamp an aging squad, and even though Joel Ward has been in decent form, West Bromwich Albion’s Nathan Ferguson has been lined up as a suitable replacement.

Zaha’s future in South London has been the subject of rampant transfer speculation, and the club’s all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham in recent years. It remains to be seen whether or not he will still be at the club after Deadline Day closes.

Despite the surge up the table, Palace must address the issue at the top of the pitch. The Eagles need to bring in a prolific goalscorer who can bring in at least 20 goals every term. Michy Batshuayi has struggled for game time at Chelsea this season and could be available this summer. It is likely the board will make a move for the striker after his impressive loan spell last season.
