The “double reduction” policy issued in July, designed to ease the excessive burden of homework and after-school tutoring, was supposed to put an end to students’ busy life juggling a variety of additional lessons throughout the day.

This policy is also expected to lower the cost of education for families and relieve their anxiety. However, in reality, it has failed to bring relief to some parents.
