Sheffield Wednesday: Barry Bannan linked to Brentford
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have reacted to a transfer report linking Barry Bannan with a move to Championship rivals Brentford.
The 30-year-old midfielder joined the Owls from Crystal Palace back in 2015 and he is now into the final year of his contract at Hillsborough.
Brentford, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, are said to be keen on making a move for the Owls captain as they look set to lose Algerian attacker Said Benrahma, who looks increasingly likely to move to West Ham United.
Available on a free transfer next summer, the £2.16m valued midfielder has featured in no less than 214 games for Wednesday with four of those coming already this season in the Championship.
Sky Sports Keith Downie touched on the interest from Brentford in Bannan, tweeting that the Owls had rejected a bid from their league counterparts.

Offer him a new contract, if he doesn’t sign it speaks volumes about where he sees himself. He’s been a great servant but having been made captain hope he signs, it’s not just on the pitch it’s also what the young players learn from him in training, etc
