Swansea City: Fans have new hero at the Liberty Stadium after Ben Wilmot’s full debut
Many Swansea fans have lauded a new hero at the Liberty Stadium after Ben Wilmot scored the winner in the South Wales derby.
Will Swansea City get promoted?
Yes
No
The Watford loanee started his first league game for Steve Cooper’s side, after Wales international Joe Rodon was sidelined for at least two months due to a tendon injury, which will require surgery, according to the BBC.
Swansea were able to beat their bitter rivals 1-0, as they gave their promotion push a boost, leaving Cardiff in 14th in the process, now going four games without a win.
While WhoScored said that Matt Grimes was worth of the Man of the Match award, Wilmot’s clean sheet and goal earned him a healthy 8.01/10 rating.
Aside from the goal, Wilmot registered two successful tackles, two interceptions and also managed a big five clearances – the highest out of the Swansea players (also per WhoScored).
Unsurprisingly, Swansea fans were waxing lyrical about the 19-year-old, who has secured himself in folklore at the club by scoring that vital goal.
